Ingredients:

  • 1 lb sweet butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup blanched almonds or walnuts, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp brandy
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Whip the butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Slowly add powdered sugar, vanilla, and brandy.
  3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, and fold in the nuts.
  4. Use a teaspoon amount of dough and shape into balls, ovals, or crescents.
  5. Place on ungreased cookie sheets (cookies will not spread).
  6. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 20 minutes. DO NOT BROWN.
  7. Sift powdered sugar onto a plate and coat the cookies completely while warm. Makes 75 cookies.
