These honey cookies are made using a simple, traditional recipe with just a handful of ingredients that you likely already have at home. They are soft, delicious, and only get better over time. You can bake a large batch and enjoy them for days. For an extra touch, decorate them with walnuts, dried fruit, or even a dusting of powdered sugar.

Ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons honey
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chopped walnuts or raisins (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, sugar, and egg until well combined.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then mix again.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough lightly, then break off small portions and roll them into balls.
  6. Place the dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them slightly apart.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 12 minutes.
  8. Turn off the oven and leave the cookies inside for another 3 minutes to firm up.
  9. Let the cookies cool completely before serving. Optionally, decorate with walnuts, raisins, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
