When you need a satisfying, no-fuss meal for the whole family, ground beef pie wrapped in flaky phyllo delivers every time. This dish is hearty, flavorful, and perfect straight from the oven.
Ingredients:
14 oz ground beef (you can use a mix of beef and pork if preferred)
2 medium onions, finely chopped
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cup milk
3 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil (plus more for greasing)
1 lb phyllo dough (thawed if frozen)
Instructions:
In a skillet, heat a bit of oil and sauté the chopped onions until translucent.
Add the ground meat and cook until browned and tender, adding a little water as needed during cooking.
Season with salt and pepper. Once cooked, let the meat cool to room temperature.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk, then stir this mixture into the cooled meat.
Preheat your oven to 350–390°F. Lightly grease a baking dish (about 9×13 inches).
Layer phyllo sheets, alternating with the meat mixture. Repeat until all filling is used, finishing with a layer of phyllo.
Brush the top with a bit of oil.
Bake for about 1 hour, or until golden brown and crisp.
Let cool slightly, slice, and serve warm—ideally with a glass of buttermilk or yogurt.
