Cucumbers are composed mostly of water, making them extremely hydrating while remaining very low in calories. Their crisp, refreshing flavor makes them a popular choice for fresh salads or juices. Rich in vitamin C and minerals like potassium, cucumbers can help support kidney health and reduce water retention, making them a natural aid against swelling.
For optimal taste and digestibility, choose cucumbers with pale to light green skin, as underdeveloped fruits can sometimes cause bloating or gas. Consuming cucumber juice can further enhance digestion and nutrient absorption. Because of their natural diuretic properties, it’s best to enjoy them unsalted to maintain a healthy potassium-sodium balance.
