This homemade chili pepper jam is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. It’s made with fresh chili peppers, onions, and garlic.

Ingredients:

6 large chili peppers

1 medium onion

2 cloves garlic

½ cup water

2¼ cups granulated sugar (about 1 pound)

⅓ cup vinegar (white or apple cider)

Juice of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon fish sauce

Instructions

Place the chili peppers, peeled onion, and garlic in a blender. Add the water and blend until smooth.

Pour the mixture into a deep skillet or saucepan. Add sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, and fish sauce.

Simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely.

Increase the heat slightly and cook for another 40 minutes, stirring often, until the jam thickens.

Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, seal tightly, and store in a cool, dry place.
