My grandma often made these delicious cheese pastries, and they were always a family favorite. They are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of rich, cheesy flavor.
Ingredients:
- 250 g softened margarine (original recipe uses lard for a firmer texture)
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tbsp salt
- 250 g yogurt
- 1 level tsp baking powder
- 1 level tsp baking soda
- 1 kg flour
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- Grated yellow cheese (or any cheese of choice)
Instructions:
- Beat the margarine with egg yolks, salt, yogurt, baking powder, and baking soda until well combined.
- Gradually add flour and mix until you get a smooth dough.
- Roll out the dough to about 0.2 inches (0.5 cm) thick.
- Brush the dough generously with egg yolk and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Cut into thin strips about 0.6 inches (1.5 cm) wide and 3–3.5 inches (8–9 cm) long.
- Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.
These savory pastries are crispy, cheesy, and perfect for any occasion!
