Indulge in rich, fudgy brownies topped with sweet caramel and crunchy pecans-perfect for a special treat or holiday dessert.
Ingredients
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup pecans, coarsely chopped
- 12 soft caramel candies
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 9-inch baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, shortening, vanilla, and eggs until smooth. Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until fully combined. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the top. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
While the brownies are baking, melt the caramels with the milk in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.
Once the brownies are out of the oven, drizzle the warm caramel evenly over the top. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy!
