Bacon Spaghetti is a cozy pasta dish that’s both simple and satisfying. With smoky bacon, juicy tomatoes, garlic, and a touch of herbs, this recipe delivers a rich sauce that clings beautifully to spaghetti. A sprinkle of cheese finishes it off for a hearty meal the whole family will love.
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bacon, cut into small pieces
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed or diced tomatoes
- 1 cup fresh spinach (instead of canned mushrooms, for freshness)
- ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning (or oregano + basil mix)
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Grated Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside, leaving a little of the bacon drippings in the pan.
- Add the onion and garlic to the pan and sauté until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in the tomatoes, then return the bacon to the skillet. Season with Italian herbs and pepper.
- Simmer gently for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fresh spinach during the last 5 minutes of cooking, allowing it to wilt into the sauce.
- Serve hot over cooked spaghetti and top with freshly grated Pecorino Romano or Parmesan.
Tip
For a lighter version, you can drain most of the bacon fat after frying, or keep it for maximum flavor.
