Golden, flaky puff pastry wraps tender, sweet apples filled with a nutty, fruity mixture. These cozy pastries are lightly spiced and drizzled with maple syrup, making them the perfect dessert or warm snack for any occasion. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, they are as delightful to serve as they are to eat.
Ingredients
4 medium baking apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)
1 sheet frozen puff pastry (8 oz), thawed
2 tablespoons chopped pecans
2 tablespoons dried cranberries
2 tablespoons maple syrup
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar for garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Core and peel the apples, leaving the bottom intact. In a small bowl, combine the pecans, dried cranberries, maple syrup, and cinnamon. Spoon the mixture into the cavity of each apple.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to slightly enlarge the sheet. Cut the pastry into 4 squares. Place one apple in the center of each square and wrap the dough around it, pinching the top to seal. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg.
Place the wrapped apples on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 28–32 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy warm.
