The Latin name ginseng means Panacea or medicine for everyone, and the reputation that the root of this plant has largely confirms that name. Ginseng has been prescribed for centuries as a remedy for colds, coughs, depression, impotence, menstrual problems, arthritis, malaria, memory loss, diabetes, high blood cholesterol and cancer. It has been used in Asian medicine for more than 5,000 years, mostly as a general tonic for strengthening the body, and is often attributed as an official medicine in some countries.

The Chinese word for ginseng means human root because this plant really looks a bit like the human body, some researchers believe that if it looks like a human, it must be useful in treating human diseases. It has long been believed that long-term use of ginseng leads to longevity, and many people claim that ginseng is an excellent aphrodisiac and tonic for the whole body. There are many clinical studies on the effects of ginseng, but the results are different. In some color studies, ginseng has been found to boost strength and vitality in older people, athletes and manual workers. In addition, ginseng contains compounds called ginsenosides , which are antioxidants that prevent the appearance of conditions that lead to heart disease. Ginseng is believed to strengthen the body’s response to stress by controlling hormonal reactions to achieve this on an individual basis, for example, depending on the body’s needs, it can increase energy or drowsiness.
